April 2017 Update
The MCO Board met on April 12th at Monarch Mountain and awarded $2500 to the following local organizations.
- La Puente received a $1000 donation in support of the Generosity on Tap event that supports 14 food pantries in the San Luis Valley.
- The Upper Arkansas Service Club was awarded $500 to assist the community with medical expenses that involve sight, vision, hearing and speech needs.
- Calliope was given $500 in support of a 5 week musical theater workshop for local youth aged 4-18.
- Friends of Loyal Duke were also awarded a $500 donation to assist with restoring the gravesite monument of the loyal dog “Duke” on Tenderfoot Mountain who watches over the former train station operations as he did back in the day.
In other matters, Dan Bender was voted on as the newest board member of MCO.
Reminder to all, the MCO raffle is this weekend on Saturday-April 15th at 4pm in the Sidewinder Saloon. Tickets are available for purchase in the Sidewinder, at the ticket windows, from a board member, or at the Kayaks on Snow event. Tickets are one for $2, 3 for $5, or 15 for $25 and includes an MCO T-shirt! Please help support the biggest MCO fundraiser of the year.
